A fairly good week. I finished Errandonnee on Tuesday with an evening ride and dinner. As much as I love the challenge, I am happy that it is done so I can just do my normal routine rides. I rode 15 miles before work every day. I took it easy on weekend with two easier rides and scepter for the wind.

Rode down to Oliver's in need of new pedals, mirror and pump. I got the mirror. The only pedals they had were neon orange. I just couldn't. And the only pumps they had didn't have the extra hose. 
I asked about ordering some pedals and they only thing they could get quickly was over $100. I left with the mirror and went outside and ordered pedals and a pump for less than $100. 
I rode back up BBD and stopped at Burger 21 for dinner.

I should have skipped the fries. I was too full on the way home. And with the headwind.

Rode out to SR56 down to Tijuana Flats for Taco Tuesday. I ate outside. 
I rode to Nutrition Smart and locked up my bike. I walked to CVS and dropped off a prescription that ai no longer needed. (Helping Hand). 
I walked back to Nutrition Smart and got a few things. I didn't realize that I couldn't as a senior now and got 10% off my purchases. I got the laundry soap and the toilet cleaner in my pannier. I put the cookies on top of my rack. I ate my treat, dark chocolate salted caramel cup (personal care) before I rode home. 
I made the lights but I was slow. Was it the 19 mph wind gusts or the extra gallon of weight.

Not a good week. Started out Monday with a flat. Had to change the tire on Tuesday. The weather was nice but got windier as the week went on. And on Sunday, my pedal failed. Damn. 

Monday

Flat tire before I even left. I hit a pothole and a speed bump yesterday. It is probably a pinch flat. The tube did not sit right and had to reseat it. Even then it wasn't right. I could feel a thump. 
I rode a couple loops around CLR just to get my exercise ring completed.

I rode down Kinnan to Cross Creek to the library. I have been there before but hadn't noticed the alphabets on the walk. The one in front of the doors is Arabic, I think. So if I saw it, I didn't recognize what it was and dismissed it. There are several alphabets but I only recognized the English, the Greek and the Russian. 
I rode through Hunter's Green to BBD. I rode past Oliver's hoping it might be open. It wasn't. 
I rode down BBD to Gilligans Way and crossed to the MUP. I have ode down 42nd St to Fletcher. 
I found one sculpture but could not find another. Maybe it had been moved. 
I rode to the College and Music and found another sculpture I was looking for. I took some photos and noticed another one and walked over to it. 
I was ready to ride home and put the lock stand up and heard something metallic fall. I looked down to see my pedal. I have no idea how it broke but the spindle was still on my bike and the pedal was not. It being a Sunday, no shops are open so I called my dad. Damn.

I started out thinking I would just ride up to US301 but decided that it was such a nice day, though a bit windy, that I should do some errands. 
I turned back and got my wallet and pannier and put in the CFL bulbs and rechargeable batteries that needed to be disposed of. 

I rode to SR56 to Morris Bridge. MB does not have a shoulder let alone a bike lane. And it is a busy road. Most of the drivers were considerate. A few came very close. One driver honked at me. I waved. They honked again. I waved again. After four honks, this driver finally had enough room to pass. I was surprised to see it was a woman. Jerk. 
Crossing SR54 at Morris Bridge is not easy. There are no sidewalks and there is construction. I would have liked to make a left turn but decided to be safer and cross twice. 
I locked my bike up to a pergola demo that was secured to the pavement. 
I took my bulbs and batteries inside and put them in the receptacles. 

I looked for a cord reel for our 100' extension cord. The wrap I had used broke last week. I was looking for something more robust but settled for the only option they had. I also got some ant bait. 
I paid for my purchases and went back to my bike. The reel would not fit in the pannier but I had the net to attach it to the rack. 

I rode back SR54 to MPB. This is another stop that is hard to navigate on a bike. They are redoing the entry so they are down to two lanes but there is a light so I waited and crossed when I could. 
The tailwind was nice.

Southeast winds means Flatwoods. I tried to find some other category to fill in for my Errandonnee goals. There is no public art and nothing historical near me. (I wasted too much time looking that I didn't have enough time to go farther and find public art.)
So the ride was to be Personal Care or Mental Health Ride or Mother's Day Ride. But as I was riding I decided to ride back Morris Bridge and Cross Creek and check out the shopping centers. I had never Ben and thought I might discover something interesting. I rode through and it being Sunday morning, it was quiet. Most of the businesses are offices which are not open on the weekends. There was a bodega but nothing that interested me. 
I rode along the MUP but it ended soon and became a narrow sidewalk. Thankfully it was empty. Another block and I turned up Kinnan. 
A driver honked at me as I was riding in the right turn lane as there is no bike lane. Apparently he wanted to turn right but he went ahead of me and turned in front of me. Jerk. 
A pair of love bugs flew into my mouth. They went way back and I did all I could not to swallow them. I even managed to spit them out without tasting them. I have read they are very acidic which is why other bugs and bird don't eat them. 

I was surprised to see the barricades gone from Kinnan. They were smashed a while ago and maybe they just gave up rather than repair them. I hadn't been this way in at least a year because I don't like riding through the ditch that separates the counties. But the ditch is gone and replaced with a car lane for emergency vehicles and paved bike lanes. That was a nice discovery.

Rode SR56 to US301. Headwind. At least the MUP is completely paved and patched and mostly clear. The barricades were gone from the path at MPB and Morris Bridge. I think they forgot the ones at US301. They never ended up doing at any work from there to Morris Bridge. Tailwind wasn't as strong as I would have liked but the ride back was easy. I made the lights too.

I got the tire mostly full and rode easily home. But at The Ridge, I could feel it bottom out with every bump. I stopped and the tire was practically flat. It was 2 miles home if I cut through the The Ridge and decided to walk. 
I got home and used my floor pump and got the tire full. I am waiting to see if it holds. I guess I need to order a new mini pump.
