Apple Watch monthly goals

Yesterday, I failed my monthly goal for Apple Watch. It was only the third day of the month and I blew it.

My goal was the double my move goal everyday for the month. I love when I get that goal because I typically do double my move goal everyday without really trying.

But yesterday it rained. And rained. And rained some more. We got almost 3” of rain. And even though I can and have ridden in the rain, I do not go out with thunder and lightning. And there was enough of that that kept me home most of the day.

I did get out for a short ride, only 6 miles. It rained for most of the ride and even thundered some. I decided not to tempt fate more than I already had and rode home. I closed the exercise and move rings and was happy.

However, I failed to think about doubling my move goal. I realized this would be a problem about 8pm. I tried to move around the house doing some small tasks. What I really needed to do was walk a mile but I didn’t put on a bra after my shower and did not want to put one on that late in the day. Lazy.

Housework might work but I couldn’t run the vacuum because dad and Ryan were already in bed. I seriously thought about cheating and putting my Apple Watch on Andy’s wrist while he danced to his music. But I would need to change the band and find one that was large enough for his wrist. I was too lazy even for that.

At 8:43, I was at 723 calories and needed to get to 800 before bed at 10pm. I did some more walking around and eventually got to 762 calories before I gave up.

It feels really odd to have failed this early in the month. There have been months when I have tried and failed in the last days. I am not sad nor disappointed in my myself. In the end, the goals and faux badges mean nothing. They do motivate to keep moving which is the end goal.

Today, the sun took its time to come out but the rain had stopped. I rode my bike for almost 30 miles. And by 6pm, I had gotten to 1,600 calories. But Apple Watch doesn’t allow for rest days.

No one cares but me.
