Another day spent in the hos[ital. My dad is feeling better but they are still running tests. Because they can. And my dad has good insurance. He might come home tonight or tomorrow.

morning in the er

My dad got dizzy and fell. He hit his head and needed a couple of stitches. I spent the morning in the er while they poked and prodded and x-rayed him. They are keeping him overnight to see what else they can charge.

[comfort] the right shoes

Years ago, I went to a running store and had my gait analyzed. I over pronate. Brooks Beast keep my feet stable when I walk so I have no foot pain. They are also supposed to help my back.

This is my nth pair of Brooks Beast. When my feet start hurting, I know it's time to buy another pair.

Have I mentioned how crappy the weather is this winter? Oh good, I don't want to repeat myself but it's driving me mental! About the only thing that has saved me is that I lost enough weight to be able to buy some jeans. My first pair since my first son was born last century. Yes, they are mom jeans but I am a mom. So there!

Anyway, there's not much better than soft and faded denim to keep one warm. OK, maybe a slanket but I am not going there. Yet.

I find comfort in food. Especially home baked goods. My favorite are cookies but my dad was looking for something more substantial. Neither one of us is a big fan of cupcakes with frosting so muffins are a good compromise. I found this recipe at JoyofBaking.com

Last week's theme was signs. I shot a bunch during my (almost) daily walks. More than I needed for 7 days. All were shot with my iPhone.

I see this sign when I walk. I have always wanted to photograph it. But how can you justify taking a shot of someone's name. I did snatch a photo with my iPhone and found it's not as interesting as I had thought. But isn't that what textures are for?

Mistakes were made. I used baking soda instead of baking powder and my chocolate sugar cookies did not rise. They are still quite tasty and very chocolatey. But very flat.

Oops, where DID the day go? Oh right. My computer went nuts and I spent most of the day restoring iTunes and my iPhone. Thank goodness for back-ups.

So I pulled this card out of the archives. And yes, it was shot with my iPhone. Otherwise you might actually see the nice details. OK, I'll try again tomorrow.

[monday mosaic] hats

The boys went back to school last weekend but I can't seem to get back into the swing of things. Seems like I was scrambling every day to get a shot and ended up using older photos or my iPhone. Lazy.

Last week's theme was hats and I used the photos for my mosaic.

The boys get their hair cut once a month. Afterwards, we got to the bookstore. We went today and these are selections we picked. I got the magazines, Ryan chose the quizzes and Andy loves Thomas.

The best part is that it cost me nothing because we used gift cards the boys got for Christmas.
