broccoli slaw

I love cole slaw. I prefer sweet coleslaw, the stuff at Chick Fil A and KFC being my favorites. But trying to eat better doesn't include those places. And their slaws are also high in calories.

In the past, I have made my own. It's pretty good and so easy with Marzetti's Slaw Dressing. The regular slaw dressing has HFCS and other stuff I'd rather not eat but Marzetti makes natural dressings and they are found in the refrigerated section of the produce area. I checked the label and found only stuff I could pronounce so I grabbed a jar. Next to get some coleslaw.

I am all for convenience especially when it comes to produce. I do not want to shred a head of cabbage. I looked at the packaged coleslaw but they only have the large bags and frankly I can't eat that much before it goes bad. I saw in the organic section a product called broccoli slaw. It cost just as much as the coleslaw but was only half the amount. I figured I would try it.

The broccoli slaw has broccoli, purple cabbage and carrots all neatly shredded for me. I added about 3/4 cup of slaw dressing and tossed it. Then I let it sit overnight.

The salad did not get wilty like coleslaw usually does. The broccoli really held it's bite. It took a few forkfuls before I decided I really did like and would probably make it again.
