happy mother's day

I rarely get Mother's Day cards. I don't put any importance on the day. My kids don't understand it and that is fine with me. And I may have imagined bad memories of having to honor my mother every May. Anyway, I tend to forget to may and/or send Mother's Day cards to the boys' godmothers. I just remembered yesterday and quickly added it to my to do list. The card sketch is from Valerie Salmon. The papers are from Katie Pertiet.

with sympathy

I had to make a couple of sympathy cards. I hate making these kinds of cards. Not only does is suck to have the occasion to send the card, but it is so hard to find the words. Lack of appropriate words is what convinced me that personal cards are the way for me. I hope that people see that the thought that went into the card, is more than any words I could come up with to wish them the best. Sympathy cards are different. It is not necessary to find the best embellishments or patterned paper. It is the words that help. First I did a quick google search and found this site. Then I searched some of my favorite digi sites and found Remembrance WordArt by Anna Aspnes. The papers are Everafter.

bring on the jelly beans!

Actually, it's time to let the jelly beans go. I love Starburst Jelly Beans and they are only available at Easter. Silly me thought I could do with only 2 bags for the seasons. Make that 2 bags a week. But I am ready to say good-bye to them for another year.

I am sad that this one of the last kits from Sir Scrapalot. He is retiring from design. You can pick up Little Bunny Foo Foo at 60% off through the end of April.

bbq king

Rarely have I created something just for the sake of creating. OK, something besides photography. When I have made a layout, or a card, I had to have a reason to do it. Usually, I made it to hold a memory or a card to give away. Occasionally I would make a layout or card as a response to a challenge. Today, I just started making this card. I started with the sketch. Then I found some papers I thought would look good; Sassy Designs Stockbridge. Finally I went to look for some word art to fill in the bigger spots. Anna Aspnes's BBQ WordArt No. 01 fit in well with the masculine theme of this card.
